Art in residence - Chateau de Suronde

Château de Suronde is a chenin blanc vineyard in Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru in Anjoy, Loire. This magical wine estate blends organic authentic Loire wines with Belgian contemporary art. It is a place of creation. Château de Suronde offers a residence to visual artists, writers and musicians. Belgian artists are curated by the renowned Belgian curator Sven Vanderstichelen for artist residences in Château de Suronde.



Steeds meer mensen trekken zich terug in de natuur en kiezen bewust voor een ‘eenvoudiger’ leven. Het is een verschijnsel dat zich alsmaar duidelijker manifesteert in de hedendaagse maatschappij. De natuur lijkt ons een mogelijkheid te bieden om even te ontsnappen aan de dagelijkse beslommeringen en om onze gedachten te ordenen. Dat is helemaal geen nieuw inzicht. De mens is van oudsher gefascineerd door de verwoestende en oncontroleerbare, maar toch moederlijke natuur. Het spreekt dan ook voor zich dat het een geliefd thema is doorheen de kunstgeschiedenis. Ook tijdens deze residentie, gecureerd door Sven Vanderstichelen, gebruikt Pieter jan Martyn de ongerepte natuur als toevluchtsoord voor zijn nieuwste werk.
